I just got this in a trade last week. The first order of business was a good scrubbing, then an overnight soak in dishwater. Another scrubbing and this is the result. I am now taking the car apart, it looks like an easy restoration. The chrome is in pretty bad shape, but I knew that and I am going to try restoring it myself. The next step will see if I can get the blur out of the rear end! More to follow.....

The paint is on the body. It is a cappuccino gold. Sounds weird to me, but it looks good in person. The interior is now white. The paint is still wet. Maybe later this week I can get back to it and start some detailing. As for now, it is off to the Inet to find some reference pics.

Love the color Robert , don't know what to say. I built that when me and my wife first married and I couldn't afford the paint to paint LOL , so I looked at it for years as you got it . never knowing what it could have looked like painted.

The paint is a custom mix left over from a friend at a body shop. It is a stock Cadillac gold with a little brown to tone down the sparkle.
He had about an once and a half. Needles to say, if I make any mistakes on the body there is no touch up paint left. I used it all without saving any....dumb, dumb, dumb
I also enjoyed hearing the history of this car. Some of my models have a history that goes with them, I think it makes them more enjoyable.
The interior is done, but I am off to Oregon for a few days. It will give the paint a little extra curing time.

Well, she is not done, but this is as far as I am going to go until winter. I will go back and add a new radiator, distributer wires, battery cables and small details when it gets to cold outside to paint. I paint outside because and paint fumes or chemicals make my wife really sick, so they need to gas out in the garage. This car was a fun rebuild! I did a lot of Internet research as to what model to build. I ended up doing a base model with a big engine. AKA muscle car. The front side chrome is a little wider than on the real car, I tried the smaller strip, but it kind of got lost in the metallic paint. The bumpers were recovered with Baremetal foil. They aren't perfect, but it was a good learning experience. The rear window is now clean, I had some gunk on my finger and smeared it on while I was taking the pic and didn't notice it until I was reviewing it here. And finally, as for that blurry rear end. I dipped it in a quart of blur-b-gone. Now it is pretty much in focus. However, the blur shifted to the for 36 hours front end. (just kidding) I hope you enjoy this one.
