I have several (many) original promos and vintage kits that have damaged windshield frames. Short of ordering replacements from Modelhaus, has anyone attempted to scratch-rebuild an existing frame using styrene strip? This would certainly be the least expensive route and would seemingly be a matter of matching the gauge of strip to the original frame material. Thanks for any advice.

Thats a good question! And i believe it can be done, i have replaced many A-pillers in the past.........recently i started making them out of two or three pieces to get the right shape, Rather then file and shave etc.......
So rebuilding a windshield frame shouldnt bring to much of a fuss to do.......
While using evergreen strips you can drag them thru the thumb and index finger(while turning it a tad) to get it to shape........(May have to repeat afew times) but it will hold a curved shape............
Dont forget to let us know what you are working on........and before long you will be able to do them in your sleep..
One thing, i wouldnt BMF it till the glass was installed and has time to set up.then it wont break as much.......

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to have to get a selection of evergreen strips. I have a 1965 Chrysler 300 cv promo that I got relatively cheap on eBay that needs the total frame. I'll post my progress.
Happy New Year!
