I bumped into a friend of mine today, and knowing I was into building models he mentioned that he'd bought a "'32 or '33 Ford" a few years back, and had attempted to chop the top, botched on it,and lost interest,he said "I'll go get it if ya want it!"...he lived right across the street from where I saw him,so I accepted graciously (yeah right, ). Anyhow,I'm assuming he probably did this with a serrated pocket knife,LOL! I've never tried a top-chop,or this big a job (from where I'm sitting),so I figured I'd post it up with pics, see if anyone here could give me a basic direction on how to fix this. I have $0 budget to buy anything I don't already have on hand (like styrene sheets/stock),but I do still have some putty on hand from a previous project. So,the roof doesn't line up with the posts,so I'm assuming I need to either stretch the roof a little,or lean the posts. I can figure how to stretch, what's the procedure for leaning a post? Sorry if this sounds basic, but like I said, never tried it before. Thanks, guys!

Well i think i came up with it........... first off you gona have to cut out the cloth pattern in the roof and place it off to the side, next up i would cut straight across (between both doors int he middle) of the roof, then cut a section out of the middle of the front of the roof........... Fill in with sheet stock trimmed to fit and slight use of putty will help......... Next up is to make a template of the new opening int he roof (were the cloth looking pattern was) you can use a piece of sheet stock here............then using masking tape on the piece once it is cut and it fits the new opening............... then all thats left to do is paint the cloth with its new color, now one will ever know............ Hope this helps ya out buddy!! any questions let me know..........

I've found sheet plastic scraps at sign shops, I know someone who works at one, and I go and say "hello " every few months.Works for me.
