I got a call from Steve a few minutes ago, and he got a call saying his house burned down. Nobody was at home, so that is something to be thankful for!! So if you are a prayer person, please send out a bunch to steve and his family. Once he can call me again, he will give me an update, and i will pass it on to all of you.


UPDATE:
I got a message from Steve last night, and between the fire, smoke and water damage, it was a total loss. The insurance company put them up in a motel for now. The company is supposed to do an assessment mid week.
I will let you know updates as i get them.

I am working on getting some "needed" items together to send to them.

If you want to send anything to them, i would recommend....
1) clothes
2) Money
3) non-perishable food
4) paper or foam plates and plastic ware for eating.
5) can opener

Hey guys...we're at Motel 6 in Dad's town for a few weeks (at least),on Alstate's nickel. I was mistaken when I told Virgil "everything" was lost,we've been picking through stuff yesterday and today,there are a few clothes that might can be washed,Jamie's room is completely obliterated (that's where the fire started),several of Nick's hotwheels and Cars (from the movie Cars) can be cleaned up,and out of 250+ unbuilt kits,six kits came out without a scratch...good thing I like Chevy S10 trucks,cause I have 6 kits of em ...no room to build in the motel...nor am I really in the mood now anyways.

NOBODY was home,like Bear said,that's what's important,and thats why we paid insurance all these years right? (Alstate is trying to weasle out of responsibility though....long story,but they're doin a bit now).

I REALLY appreciate what Virgil asked,about if anyone could lend a hand...and you know I'm a proud Olskooler,but I really ain't in a position to be proud for now,so nothing's asked for or expected,but anything (especially thoughts and prayers) is greatly appreciated. Dunno when I'll be at Mavisdale much to check that PO box now though,LOL,we're 2 hours from it.

Anyways,Motel 6 didn't actually leave the light on before we got here,LOL,but they DO have a "for guests only" PC,for up to 30 minutes use per-sit down,so I'll try and get here and the other sites (I haven't even been on my own board yet,LOL) as I can,update you,my family/friends.

Thanks SO much again,my friends,just your thoughts/prayers are uplifting the spirits!

I will get everyone's sizes soon and post em up,and yeah,any clothing will definately help...what $ we have is going uber fast,having to buy everything needed....and the figgin bills are still due

I know I wear (usually) medium t-shirts,and 33-34x32 (waste/length) jeans/pants,but I'll have to get theirs.

Yeah,the trucks aren't done in,thankfully,and her Neon is fine. It's been a strain on the 198K old Blazer to be pressed into daily use though,it doesn't like it so much...but I have been running it LOTS the last few days,LOL!

The agent is supposed to be there to inspect it Tuesday...I'm not hopeful about whether we'll be screwed,as we had to put MUCH pressure on em to honor the contract and provide this motel...we actually had to make a picket sign and play the "I'm a disabled vet,my house burned,family living on the street because they won't pay" card...I actually hobbled the lot a few minutes before they would pay out (the house/policy is in Dad's name,though I was buying/paying for the house,AND paid the insurance...funny,they didn't mind cashing and accepting my checks all those year...),but at any rate,I'll update when I can,and get some clothing sizes,AS WELL AS an address to send anything to,since we aren't at the old address anymore (probably dads addy),and guys,y'all know I'm a proud Olskooler,but I'm also very VERY thankful to alla youse,you're more family that famliy (none of them but my Pop/Mom has even called to see if we're alive ).

shoes: depending on brand...9-11 womens (closer to 9 most often)

shirts: mostly medium t-shirts,unless sizing runs a bit small
pants: 33-34 waste/32 length
shoes: I have several pair that weren't in the house,I'm good there

Hey guys,I'm BAAAAAACK!!!! ;D ;D ;D

Sorry it took'd me so long to get back on here,but the PC was pretty wiped too,I losted all my links,and the addy here was one I didn't know by heart (I always just clicked and boom,there it was,LOL).

Anyhoo,it'd take a small pamplet to update on everything,so I'll hit the basics...

Allstate finally settled. It wasn't a great lot in he grand scheme of things,but we made it go very far. We paid off the mortgage on the old place (only owed 5 years). We bought a completely remodeled (as in,EVERYTHING both inside AND out is literally all new,and not the cheap stuff) 1.5 story bungalow house in town in Bristol VA (about 8-10 miles from Bristol Motor Speedway and drag strip in Bristol,TN). Here's a couple pic...

Not quite as much room as the old doublewide (more square footage though...go figure ),but MUCH nicer. There was several acres over there (which...we own outright now,LOL,for what that's worth,county won't allow new living structures on the lot),just enough dirt to surround the house and park a few vehicles here (not counting on the street),but I finally have city (bicycle) riding I can do,woohoo!!! (been riding around town a little bit,even rode with the kids to a car show a couple weeks ago,on the bikes! ;D ),and we no longer have to drive a friggin hour to get somewhere.

Tina is drawing unemployment (after having been laid off just a week before the fire),but is looking (prayers appreciated on a decent payiong job for her,our bills just shot up...).

Got a few things on the Blazer fixed,so it still steers a little henky,but no longer leaks tranny fluid and runs great (power everything works too ;D),and I think I may have the Dime sold to an old friend (term used loosely) mid month next month (tranny still broke in it,it's just been sitting at Dad's). Actually,I just put the Blazer up for sale (or trade for a specific age/make of car*),here's a pic...

We got al the furniture we need-several bits of it brand new-but just a few bits for the kids rooms (we all wound up with brand new beds/matresses/box springs,Sealy no less) like chests/drawers or whatever they're called,but were' managing just fine...and every bit of it is at least nicer than what we had,as is the clothes we now have (all Summer wardrobes though).

Also bought the Blazer's replacement...well,the Dime's replacement (as it was the daily driver before it broke on me),and it's been a long time coming...it'd been 21 yars since I'd owned one,s it was about overdue. A '94 Mustang GT ragtop! ;D It was a 1 female owner,always garaged,receits back to '96 or so,well maintained. BF/husband musta been a gearhead though...under drive pulleys,BBK in-fender cold air intake\headers\front half of exhaust (to the free flow cats...it's factory choked back down exhaust fromt he cats back,weird!),Hypertech chip,and Motorsprt E303 cam (have the receit for part and install). VIN claims .273 rear end though (as does the 2,000RPM in 5th gear at 85 MPH too,LOL).Anyways,hre's a pic...




The A/C wasn't working when I bought it,but I want to shout out for the dealer (Elite Automotive in Britol,TN,2 miles east of the Speedway,423-57-ELITE),they made an honest $800 profit on the car (I accidently saw the paperwork when alon in the office...shhhh!),and by the time they got it fixed (today,actually),they had replaced the entire A\C system-every nut,bolt,line,fitting,compressor,etc-AT NO COST TO ME (they spent a total of $1,837 and change on parts alone,nary acomplaint!)...For anyone close enough,I HIGHLY recommend these guys,and we'll DEFINATELY be repeat customers!

Haven't really gotten back to building yet,but have been piddlingwith a couple,and by the first,will have 4 projects going at once...wish me luck!

For those that knew about...the marrital probs escalated in the days before and after the fire...I took the kids and left,went to NC and stayed with Cindy (the other woman that wasn't until I moved in with her that week),and it was OBVIOUS to both of us,that while our feelings were real and pretty strong,God didn't approve,so we (kids and I) came back,sat Tina down and talked,and have been having an AWESOMErelationship (finally) based on communication,respect (oh,and LOTS of,ahem,marrital 'duties' ;D),and it's only been getting better. Prayers for Cindy and Joey (her 11 year old son) appreciated by me.

Well,that's about it for now. Gunna look around a few . THANKS for the worry,prayer and thoughts,my friends,and to any and all who sent items,kits,and help with $ when we needed it too,you'll never be forgotten!

*I'd trade it for any year V8 or GT Mustang (ok...no II's,unless a King Cobra or Mach I and it'd have to be NICE) of equal value (I'm asking $3G,so....LOL),or a really nice '83-93 2.3L (auto or stick) LX hatchback.
