Just started on this one,a recent win off Evilbay (for a song!). It all seems to be there, except the decals. Anyways, the copyright info on the instructions says 1978,which "feels" about right given the nature of the kit's design, and the mold lines and flash. Everything seems overly simplified or molded on,LOL! I've gotten spoilled with more modern kits,it seems Anyhoo, first thing I did was cut off and file down the molded in exhaust-using my first ever Dremel for the fuel tank's part-and slabbed some putty on the tank... And then as I was GROK'ing the kit for ideas/direction,I decided I wanted a smoooooth and shaved look,so while cleaning up mold lines,I went on to smooth out all trim, door handle, and drip rail on the one side (my back pains prevented getting both sides tonight). Here's a pic of each side, kinda "before & after" style... I'm also thinking really hard about cutting some filler panels and smoothing the rear area where rear side windows would-have-been. I also decided to shave/smooth the hood of all vents and emblems,so I sanded/filed the one side (as with the body),and got the first layer of putty down... And that's where she sits tonight. Plans are in my head, and are leaning towards wide whites and period wheels, scratchbuilt hinge for the rear door (my first ever. If it turns out decent,I may cut the doors out, make some jams & panels and hinge them as well),slammed (of course),and either a 6 Banger or 283,either with period speed eqiupment,as well as a few personal tweaks I have planned. It's been too dang long since I built something true to my roots (and username,LOL!),I'm enjoying this already ;D More to come!

Looks like you are off to a good start on this one. With the smoothed body how about some solid discs for the wheels?

Thnaks guys No work on it today (see "Daily Greets" thread for reasons),but hopefully I'll be able to stand to sit (dowhat? ) long enough to get a lil headway. Marc,I had actually thought about solid discs ;D Haven't decided (or raided my spare wheel stash) yet...LOL,haven't gotten that far along in plans yet

I know the pics don't look that much different than the last ones, but the chassis is now a "rolling" chassis (albeit still too high, and on only 3 wheels,LOL!),it's sprayed, the wheels are dechromed (will also be red),all body panels (cept the headlights) are primed, and the hood is 98% smoothed. Little more putty and that should be finished. Anyways, here they is... I'll try and get more done tomorrow, but if not,it'll be next week,I'm gunna throw my cards in on another of TRaK's 96 hour builds this weekend ;D

Looking good. Are you going to try and get it lower like your mockup pic earlier or leaving it as is?
