I have the body stripped, i have some finish putty work to do, then i can prime and paint. I still have to get some funds together to get the chrome replated. Hopefully it will be done mid-year 2010.
Thank you. Virgil

It will be airbrushed the same color, but i have a different airbrush that will do a better job. The paint job you see had a bunch of problems, and was not show worthy. I want this thing to stand up and hit the judges right in the face, and say: LOOK AT ME!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Here is what it looks like after stripping it: Sorry for the dark pic, my batteries gave out in my camera to where i couldnt use the flash, and it has been raining for a few days, so no outside shots either...lol. As soon as i get it re-painted, i will post pics. Thanks for the interests, and comments. They are greatly appreciated. The hood scoop was part of a resin stinger scoop from Drag City Casting. I liked it better, than no scoop at all. Virgil

virg, this is one of my favorite cars. i bought one back in the 80's. it was on the street in a town right on the ocean. that thing had more rust than anyone could imagine. it took me a year to do all the bodywork. anyway, yours is so nice. i have built a model of mine but, it's not finished yet. i recently sold my hobby room and have got another. now i just have to fix the floor and windows. they are travel trailers in case you were wondering. hopefully i will get back to modeling soon.

Thank you fellas for the kind comments. Gary, do you have pics of the 1:1, and the scale model?? I would like to see where you are with them. Like you, i really like the 49-52 chevy's. They have endless possibilities of how they can be built. I would love to have a 1:1. I would build it to match the model...lol. Do you have heat in the travel trailer?? That is a cool idea. You can lock yourself in, and hide from everyone....lol.
Steve, i dont normally go nuts on wanting a model to go to a contest, but i built this one for that purpose. You dont see many, if any at the shows anymore. The color seems to fit the body style so nicely, and i have had tons of great comments on the paint. All who have seen it tells me to paint it the same color, which i knew i was going to anyway....lol. I love the combination. Thanks again to both of you and everyone else who has gave me rave reviews. Thank you. Virgil

i have a pic when i got it but not one after i built. let me tell you a story about that. i met this girl and i took pics of her. she says she would get them developed. never seen the pics or her again. all my stuff is crammed in a cab-over camper shell. the way it looks, i wont be able to get the floor tile until next month to get to where i can start working on the models. i am having withdrawal symptom.

That is a major bummer Gary. I am sorry to hear you lost your pics. What engine are you using in your 51?? Thanks again.

Thank you for the pic of the drag car, dogfish. That would be a good one to replicate. Today in the mail, i had a wonderful surprise ;D ;D ;D I got my parts back from Chrome-Tech USA. WOOOO HOOOOO!!!! LOL. Now i need to paint the body, get it bmf'ed, and i can start putting it back together.....yippeeeeee!!! LOL. It will be awhile, but in the meantime, here is what the chrome looks like. Sorry for the backdrop, it was the only thing working LOL. Thank you, Virgil
