no idea what kind of paint the yellow is, but it's not easy to get off. basically it's all coming off as soon as i get it under water and soap again.... but this time i am going to use a rag or something. this yellow comes off easier wiping with a rag then it does with a tooth brush. you can see glue was used a "little" on this one. will be scraping glue off and sanding, filling.....a bit more than i anticipated but will be worth it. maybe this is worth posting. I just filled the holes in the cowl where the spotlights were mounted before. i used sprue from a parts tree, rounded it out with a file so it would spin smoothly and mounted it in my dremel. i used the perfectly busted and bent blade and carved it down to a tad large size than the holes. then i put some ambroid pro weld on the end that i wanted to push through. (softens up and makes it fit tight). pushed through, cut off the back of the post and all i have on top is a little shaved and sand work to worry about , no body filler is even needed! right side is cut off and filled, left side is with post still intact. well i think this is as good as this old bomb gets. under the paint there was a lot more glue than i anticipated, but it cleaned up pretty good i think. before color is shot, i will do a light "dry" sanding with 4,000 to smooth out any scratches showing in primer. spotlight holes are completely invisible now, thanks to pro weld and extra sprue! I want one of these soooo bad. Great looking paint, Bob. thanks! just messing around with the "old engine/chassis" for mockup. sorry the pics are so dark. instead of the Radir mags, i am starting to lean toward "Hop Up" style late 50s! Hosted on Fotki

not a whole lot of progress. i spent the last week moving my stuff upstairs into my new room. right now i am repairing broken suspension parts, will probably break more as i take them off the chassis. I want to paint the chassis and there is glue on it so it needs cleaned up. the front axle was broken, so i stuck the metal axle through to hold in place and used pro weld to put it back together. I also decided to change front tires to the small skinny whites from Modelhaus. Hosted on Fotkichassis cleaned up pretty good! painted same color as body. had to remove a lot of glue and chrome plating from the parts that were glued on. the only spots that are noticable will be covered by the body again. engine is fresh, the unbuilt one i have. just halves and heads glued together so far. i went with "cut the throats" off AMT 5window tri-carbs. i glued them on the carbs and turned them outwards a little as i have seen on 1:1 rides many times. this is a little different to see on a model i think? anyways...glad to have them done so i can move on!

this was fun to do. the kit shifter was broken so i used a stick pin with the teardrop knob and stuck in dremel and shaped the shifter handle. bent the shaft and dremeled a boot , viola! (ignore the floor and stuff, that all needs cleaned up...glue bomb rebuild here) Hosted on FotkiHosted on Fotki

ok just wanted to share this. if you have ever tried to use CSC aka castrol super clean or "purple lake" to remove lacquer paints, then you know it doesn't work. I was told a couple years ago to try 90-91% alcohol. I have not turned back. this stuff takes all the paint off in sheets, bubbles it up and lifts it off. The only problem is it will not touch lacquer primers for some reason. here is a pic of it in a zip lock bag still stripping. Notice the shape of the roof top and the white sheet of paint that came off next to it in the bag. this takes a few hours to strip, but that is per layer ie . clear coat then paint.
